Random Ramblings

It's a pretty day outside and I'm in bed exhausted and bored. I still don't have my laptop so my blogging is pretty limited. I will be getting it back tonight although I have absolutely no idea if it's fixed or not. So I'm just going to post a bunch of random stuff just because, and you deserve ice cream if you read it all.
  • I've been feeling extremely tired recently and went to check my iron levels as it tends to decrease. The doctor then mentions the words Thyroid, lump and ultrasound out of nowhere. As shameful as it is I didn't know where the Thyroid is or what it does, I never heard of anyone having problems with it and I freaked out really badly. And checking Google and seeing the word cancer EVERYWHERE ended up giving me a panic attack while I was out. After I got told by a lot of people that it's very common and that ultra sounds are necessary just to make sure everything is ok I calmed down. Although not very patient at waiting for my results now. Cannot wait until my next docs appointment is over so I can stop freaking out.
  • Hubby went to Myer to get my Nars blush (birthday gift) while I checked out concealers at Bobbi Brown. I usually hate those cosmetics stands because the SA's can be really unhelpful and pushy (MAC!) but the girl at Bobbi Brown was extremely nice. I couldn't decide which of the products I should buy now and which to leave for later so MrB decided to get all 3 as another present. I'll do a proper post on it all when I get my laptop back.
  •  Hubby is going to Sydney tomorrow night to visit his family... and he is taking his laptop. God help everyone if I'm completely laptop-less for a week!
  • Essie Knockout Pout is a biatch to apply, it's soooooo streaky and dries so matte it looks like I put highlighter all over my toes!
  • I'm thinking of getting the 38mm Babyliss Pro Ceramic Curling Iron but have no idea if it's any good.
  • I updated to the new Blogger layout early by accident and I'm not a fan of the change.
  • Australia Post prices went up by 50c or something yesterday...because they weren't high enough to begin with.
  • I think I ate 4 bags of Peanut m&m's in the last 2 weeks.

    1. Ohh, sorry to hear about your thyroid.

I had a thyroid scare too... Well, not me but both of my parentals at the same time. I, like you, was all AHHH CANCER!!! Turned out my Dad had an underactive one and my mum had an overactive one. They just have to takes pills... and actually I think my mum has stopped them now. So... Please don't stress! It might just be a little something something not a big something something.

      1. That actually makes me feel a bit better (not that your parents are going through it, but that I'm not the only one). Maybe peanut m&ms will ease the stress!

Do you have a phone you can email from? I still swear by emailed posts for travelling. Works the same when you're laptopless...

    3. You can change back to the old interface! I accidentally changed the other day

Click on the little settings wheel and a drop down will have an option to go back to the old interface. Google for instructions with pics if mine don't make sense :-)

Hope your results come back ok. I've been there too. I have a lump on my neck that I've had ultrasound and everything else on. Turned out to just be a gland that wanted to live large.

      xxx

    7. Perhaps with the thyroid issue, you aren't getting enough Iodine? The thyroid needs Iodine to help it regulate metabolism and growth.

If you don't have enough iodine, it causes you to feel tired, weight loss, depression, goitre.

It's in salty foods, iodised salt, Fish, Seaweed, Eggs and strawberries. :)

      1. So far it seems to be that! I have 2 more test to go before I officially find out... unless I have even more tests after that.

    8. Hope your next Dr's appointment brings good news your way - the internet can be a scary place for trying to self-diagnose. Nothing wrong with a little M&M action, especially if you are feeling crappy ;)

    10. Oh I know the feeling about the thyroid issues!! When I had my antenatal blood tests for when I first fell pregnant the doctor wanted to see me with the results. She said I have Hypothyroidism and I instantly burst into tears. I had never heard of it and had no idea what it was. After speaking to a few people I have since discovered that both hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) & hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) are very common in women and both are very easy to keep under control. I now take Thyroxine tablets daily to keep my levels under control & it hasn't impacted my pregnancy at all. The only annoying thing is that I have to have 6 monthly blood tests to monitor the thyroid levels.

Try not to worry too much!! Hope you get some good news soon!

      1. Oh I can't imagine how scary that would have been, especially because you were pregnant at the time! I had to go through so many tests to find out what it was (Hyperthyroidism) and still have to see a specialist before I get my pills. Good to know I wasn't the only one who freaked out!
